Mosaic Tile Company Ibis and Medusa Art Deco Terror

$ 350.00
This vintage Art Deco tile in matte glazes is from the Mosaic Tile Company of Zanesville Ohio and was made in the 1920's.  It shows the severed head of Medusa being held by the beak of a colorful ibis. Sweet, right? Measures 4 1/4" square and nearly 1/2" thick. Made from a red faience clay, it has a clear impressed mark on the back. Aa nice clean example. There is a small flake on the top left corner. This tile was photographed for Volume 2 of the four volume set "The Encyclopedia of American Art Tile" by Norman Karlson.
