Royal Delft Porceleyne de Fles

Royal Delft Tile Stork in Nest

$ 225.00
This antique tile from the Netherlands displays a stork, its wings outspread over 2 chicks in a nest. It's a wonderful Arts and Crafts era tile by Porcelyne de Fles  otherwise known as Royal Delft. Designed in cuenca, or raised line, with crystalline matte glazes it is self framed with hanging holes and a wire. It's ready to hang on a wall.  Measures 4 5/8" square, and 1/2" thick. This is one of the animal tiles designed by L.E.F Bodart (1888-1933) in the 1910's. Impressed mark on the back. The tile is in excellent condition.

Although Dutch, these tiles were often sold in the USA by the Pardee Tile Company of Perth Amboy, NJ in the 1920's, along with their stock of Grueby tiles.
