Minton Hollins
Minton Majolica Tile with an Egyptian Revival Design
$ 220.00
This large 8" square tile is from England's Victorian era, circa 1870, and made at Minton Hollins, Stoke on Trent. The molded design features palmettes and stylized lotus flowers with a zigzag frieze above and S scrolls and flowerheads below. There is some light wear on the surface and flakes around the perimeter. Maker's mark on reverse as well as what looks like an accession number from a collection. The tile is housed loose in a plain, unfinished, wooden frame. Dropped in from the front, the tile makes a nice surface as a trivet. Overall, it measures 8 1/2" square and 3/4" thick.
