Lapid Pottery Israel

Large Lapid Pottery Vase

$ 80.00
This large piece of Lapid Pottery (1944-1990) from Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Israel measures 8 1/2" tall and about 7" wide. It is painted in speckled and warty earthtone glazes similar to the Baca line from Royal Copenhagen. It is signed on the base "LAPID ISRAEL BY SARAH" and an impressed form number 181. There are 2 glaze misses on the interior rim. On one side of the pot there are a few spots where some of the glaze didn't adhere and flaked off. This can be seen in the last photo.

Lapid Pottery artists were influenced by Scandinavian and West German pottery of the era. It became THE wedding gift for new Israeli couples in the 60s and 70s.
