Harris Strong Tile Portrait of a Young Woman

This rare example by Harris Strong is a hand formed tile plaque of a young woman with a ponytail in front of a mosaic tiled background. The slab was hand cut a little off square to give the image the illusion of depth when hung on the wall, a Googie interpretation. It measures approximately 13 3/4" tall and 9 3/4" wide.The back has a hanger and Stong's design code. It remains in excellent condition with small non viewing flake on the back edge.

Hand formed slab tiles were a short lived line at Harris Strong Studio. Maybe they were too costly and time intensive. The portrait tile is one of the rarer ones of this line. Last time I found one was over 10 years ago.
