$ 65.00
This portrait from the Old Bridge Tile Company (1890-1927) of Old Bridge New Jersey  shows a man with a mustache and goatee in profile while wearing a seventeenth century ruff collar, presumably Sir Francis Drake. Covered in an excellent deep emerald green glaze. The tile measures 4 1/4" square and 1/2" deep. Clearly marked on the back "OLD BRIDGE". Virtually no surface wear. it has some roughness around the perimeter and has a short firing line, in the making, on the left edge ( by the bridge of the man's nose)

English admiral Sir Francis Drake circumnavigated the globe from 1577-1580, helped defeat the Spanish Armada of 1588 and was the most renowned seaman of the Elizabethan era.
