Providential Tile Trivet Child Sewing
A beautiful antique tile by the Providential Tile Company (1886-1913) of Trenton New Jersey. Its circular form is molded in low relief with an image of a young girl sewing. It measures 6" in diameter and site 1/2" high. The edges are glazed and the back has three in-mold raised feet so it can be used as a tea tile or trivet. Covered in an aubergine glaze there is virtually no wear. The back is embossed with "The Providential Trenton NJ K. R. & C". Someone long ago placed three pieces of adhesive tape over the feet to protect a table surface.
