A wonderful Arts and Crafts era ship tile by Porcelyne de Fles otherwise known as Royal Delft. Designed in cuenca, or raised line, with crystalline matte glazes this tile features a galleon on a calm sea. This is refereed to as a brick tile as it was designed to be installed, like a brick. Measures 4 1/8" square, and 3/8" thick. This tile is unsigned since it was made to be installed. It comes with a fitted wire hanger to facilitate displaying this on your wall. It is in excellent original condition.
Although Dutch, these tiles were often sold in the USA by the Pardee Tile Company of Perth Amboy, NJ in the 1920's, along with their stock of Grueby tiles.
