$ 1,850.00
A fine and rare tile panel by the Taylor Tilery meticulously recreating the Cecil Alden image "The Fallowfield Hunt, Breakfast at the Three Pigeons" in clay and multi-color glazes. It depicts hunters in a cobble floored cottage finishing breakfast before a fox hunt. You can see a horse and rider and dogs waiting outside the open door. Each tile measures 8" square and are mounted and grouted into a dimensional wooden frame, formerly a table top. Overall dimensions are 19" tall 28" wide and 2" deep.
The Taylor Tilery was based in Santa Monica California and in operation 1930-1943. Much of Taylor's production were geometric Moorish designs for Spanish Colonial Revival homes of the time. The highly detailed and intricate scenic panels were made with the expertise of the personnel hired after the Malibu Pottery closed in 1934.
This panel my be atypical of the Spanish Revival designs, but it fits right at home with the Storybook Ranches, Tudors, Craftsman bungalows, and Colonials of the time and would be a fitting accent in today's home.
